A Day from "Bridge to Residency" Scholar's Life
Please meet our amazing Bridge to Residency scholar - Bendelyn Asante-Boateng.
I am an aspiring internal medicine resident being mentored by faculty in the cardiology department at UCSD. My days begin at 8 am however, the routine differs on whether I will be in the Cath lab or outpatient cardiology clinic. Most days kick off with a conference or a meeting prior to the main daily activity. In the Cath lab, I observe various procedures including but not limited to aortic valve replacements, MitraClip insertions, and watchman device placements and I assist the nurses to prepare surgical tables for procedures. During the outpatient clinic, I have the opportunity to interview and physically examine patients as well as enroll patients in clinical studies I am involved in.
